Lynda's Fit and Healthy in 5

About Me

I am a Zumba certified instructor and an NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine, formerly AFAA) certified Group Fitness Instructor, Behavior Change Specialist and Weight Loss Specialist.  My interests making health and fitness fun and helping others find their way to health and fitness.

After years of fairly healthy eating and fairly regular exercise, I just didn't feel good.  A winter cold seemed to last the entire winter and always ended up in a sinus infection.  I was tired all the time and had frequent headaches.  My hypoglycemia was so bad that it felt that I was constantly eating and was still shaky and lightheaded.

I started seeing an osteopath for a back problem and asked her why I felt so bad, if I was basically healthy.  She recommended I consider a Paleo lifestyle.  I use the word "lifestyle", because the word "diet" implies a temporary change.  If you want permanent results, you need to make permanent changes.  I have eliminated foods that I have sensitivities to and I feel much better!

I don't recommend eliminating any category of food from your diet (except junk food) just because it's a fad or you think it will help you lose weight  Eating a well balanced diet of healthy foods, combined with physical activity, is the best approach for losing weight and keeping it off.  Avoid healthy foods only if you have an allergy or sensitivity to them.
